How to Be a DIVA 101: By Violet Grace.

Took these pics while we were having Violet’s an Only Child night (we were getting ready to go out shopping, hence the coat – we’re not actually hang out around the house in our coats kind of people)- Jacob was at his Nana and Papa’s house for a sleep over party!

First you must master the “sit and look serious” pose.

Then the throw your head back and laugh “you’re so funny dahling” post all while making sure to draw attention to your shoes, girls love shoes right?

Next we have the, “I can work a smile with a runny nose” pose.

This is the “look cute smile and wave” pose while yet again drawing attention to the shoes…..

And lastly, I can throw a “diva tantrum” because OMG you so did not just wipe my nose MOM!!!

Mama’s Pick: Umi Shoes

I thought I’d share some products lately that I have come to really love, hoping that it might help other Mama’s out there be pointed in the right direction if ever they are looking for something similar.

My daughter has incredibly small feet and while other babies are fitting in size 6-12 month or even size 3 shoes by now, Violet is still a very small size 1 in the shoe department or 0-6 months in shoes that come in that fit. I have been on mommy boards since I first got pregnant and when I’ve asked questions about “what shoes do you put on your baby” I typically receive a bunch of answers that when all mashed up together comes out like this “i don’t put shoes on my baby, you shouldn’t put shoes on yours, boo, hiss, protest”……ok so that’s a bit of an exaggeration but for the most part people respond that they don’t’ put shoes on their babies and while that might be fine for them, it’s not fine for me….we have temperatures in the severe negatives during our coldest months and quite frankly I’m just not cool with my near 1 year old strutting her stuff in a pair of old navy socks so shoes, boots, whatever……they are a real necessity for us. I went on a search one day for a pair of shoes that would not fall off of Violet’s feet because even though I am a fan of Robeez she just did not have the ankles to keep them on well enough and they were cute thin and not warm enough. I stumbled upon a store at the mall and fell in love with the UMI brand! I confess that they are about 40 dollars Canadian a pair but we were lucky enough to find ours on sale for $19.99!!!! We love them and now that we’ve been using them for a while I can safely say that I highly recommend these to any other mother out there looking for a soft sole flexible show for their infant/toddler! UMI seems to be a European brand but I have seen them now at a few stores here in Canada and I believe they are available in the USA also!!

Bad Mama 101

Jacob had a slice of leftover pizza for lunch today and he is not a crust person (like his Mama) so he left it on his table and came to sit where Violet and I were, of course Miss Violet crawled right over there and snatched it up – I’m so awful! A good mommy would have grabbed it out of her hands but instead I took a picture!!

Of course when I finally did take it away from her she was none to pleased and crawled away as fast as she could…..

Only to find more trouble along the way when she discovered her brother’s balloon!

Ahhh, the joys of mommyhood! I forgot what it’s like to have a moving active baby!! Although these pictures make me so excited because OMG look at her, she’s FINALLY getting hair!!!

And, would someone put some darn clothes on the kid??? It’s not like she doesn’t have a closet full upstairs!!

Diva V is always up to some sort of shenanigans – just last week at the mall as you recall she was all over her dad’s dinner roll! What is with carbs? Why do they have to taste so good!?

Sick Day!

I have to call in sick with my blog post tonight! I have been feeling very under the weather today and I’m not sure I could come up with anything remotely interesting or entertaining no matter how hard I try.

I am hoping to feel better once I get some sleep but I am not certain!

Christmas is Coming To Town…..

This past week we were able to finish up our Christmas shopping for Jacob aside from stocking stuffers and some books for our traditional book bag. It feels so great to be able to say I can cross Jacob of our list and move on to picking up a few items for Violet now, whom I confess is not so easy to shop for since we have a houseful of baby toys that belonged to Jacob! If you are a member of our extended family and friends and reading this please if I can offer you any advice when it comes to gift giving for my children this year please please please do not purchase any incredibly large toys that take up too much space!! We are lovers of toys that can be put away since we do not have a ton of space in our place right now! Also, Jacob is an asthmatic and because of this we try to reduce the amount of stuffed toys that we have in the house since they are practically dust collectors! If you are looking for a gift idea stay tuned because I will list a few things in a different blog post that Jacob has expressed an interest in but that we chose not to get him because we were content with the items we had picked out for him. So here is what our little man is getting for Christmas this year!

Imaginarium Motorized Marble Race

Big Bucket of Dinosaurs

V-Tech Learning Laptop

Two Word World Lego Sets

We also got home some Thomas trains but for some reason I was unable to post pics!!
