The Exact Middle

My friend Lizzy and I were talking about eye colour the other day and she shared that Wikipedia had a lot of cool information about every eye colour that existed so off I went to take a look. Jacob has the coolest hazel eyes that sometimes look green and I learned that hazel eyes are the EXACT MIDDLE between blue and brown eyes on the genetic eye colour spectrum. I think that is kind of neat to think (since I have brown eyes and Mike has blue) that Jacob has a little bit of each of us in his eye color…..he’s the exact middle between Mike and I….

Tomorrow = 7 Weeks Old….

This past week Violet grew out of newborn diapers and into size one and left behind the days of preemie and newborn clothing into the wonderful world of size 0-3 months! Most of the 0-3 months size is still pretty baggy on her but she definitely needs it in the length! Sigh…..they grow up way to fast! Violet also wore her very first dress ever to Church on Sunday!

Snoozer! She always sleeps with one eye cracked open a little…just enough that she can make sure we’re not up to no good!

Future Hockey Star

I was a skeptic….I admit that I never thought he would be able to do it this year. In true Jacob personality he showed us once again the he can do anything if he sticks to it….the first few classes he laid on the ice screaming his head off…..and now this….

The Puzzler

I can’t get over it with Jacob, it is like an addiction to him – he is always wanting a new puzzle to do. He has slowly progressed through the various styles of puzzles to the jigsaw puzzles and started with the aged 3 and up ones and very quickly those because far too easy, next we got him the 20 piece puzzles, then the 36 and most recently we got him a 48 piece puzzle…..I’m not sure what is going on in his brain, he just amazes me with this love of his….we literally open a box and he goes at it and can generally put a brand new puzzle together in 2-7 minutes (depending on how many pieces)….every time we go to walmart he wants a new puzzle because after he does them a few times he gets really board of them….I’ve been capturing it on video so that one day when he hates puzzles we will always have it……

A few weeks ago we took this video of Jacob doing the puzzle….from start to finish it’s 2 minutes and 30 seconds…pretty darn good buddy! Keep it up!

Where’s Mama?

Trust me when I tell you that I have been far too busy to blog the past couple of weeks! It has been a hard but rewarding adjustment to having two children and we are still trying to iron out the kinks. The hardest part of the past few weeks is trying to decide what child gets priority when they both NEED something at the exact same moment (which believe me happens very often). I guess the hardest part of the adjustment has been the fact that Jacob got very seriously ill and required a lot of attention from both parents in order to get better. I’m quite relieved to say that the worst of Jacob’s illness over the past month seems (I hope) to have passed and he is well on the road to a complete recovery…it only took a whack load of medication and several doctors, including a visit with Sick Childrens Hospital.

I have to admit that I really miss blogging because I’ve always found it a reliable output of emotions and an easy way to share updates on our comings and goings with family and friends. I’m pretty confident that as things in our household settle a bit I’ll be able to find more time to share the news from our home! In terms of updates about us right now well I guess I’ve got nothing too fascinating to report right now. I am definitely missing the adult interaction and conversation from my workplace and I’m eager to get out and pay them a visit with little miss diva (a.k.a Violet) but sadly with all the sickness floating around here I haven’t been able to make it out just yet. I’m also longing for a little sunshine from mother nature and we’re all hoping the warm spring temperatures are just around the corner…I’m really ready for the winter and post partum blues to take a hike!
